Hospitality

The current situation in the Hospitality Industry

The scenario is almost always the same … a guest checks in, sets the thermostat to high “heat” or low “cool”, then leaves for most of the day. A rented room is usually unoccupied 60% to 65% of the day while guests are on the beach, in meetings, sightseeing, or in the restaurant.

The 5th energy Hospitality Energy Management System (HEMS) automatically turns the Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) and lighting off to conserve energy when guests are out. Guests have full and complete control of room temperature and lights while physically present in the room.

5th Energy HEMS is an infrared-based, body heat, “people” detection system . . . not a simple motion sensor. It does not falsely detect inanimate moving objects such as draperies or ceiling fans. A concealed entry door switch insures that 5th Energy HEMS locks into an “occupied mode” to maintain normal HVAC and light operation even if guests are in the bathroom or asleep with the covers over their head. Separate inputs provide for controlling the HVAC unit if a balcony or patio door is opened.

In typical hotel guestrooms and suites, HVAC expense is reduced 35% to 45%. Other tangible benefits, not readily quantifiable, include extended HVAC life, reduced maintenance, and improved guest comfort.

We believe that Saving Energy Saves Everything … including profits, while promoting your property as an environmentally responsible business.

5th Energy can determine your Hotel’s usage patterns, starting with back/admin offices, store rooms, reservation areas and basement parking areas to help you save.
